Blackburn charity which supports disabled youngsters receives £40,000
A CHARITY which supports disabled youngsters and their families has received a £40,000 Funding.
In Di Go received the funding, which will be used to set up a Saturday club and short breaks for carer’s, from the People’s Health Trust.
Founding director Diane Price, 60, of Pinewood, Feniscowles, will run the club every week at the Shadsworth Children’s Centre in Blackburn.
She said: “We have received some funding to help people in the Shadsworth area of the town.
“It’s a total of £40,497 for the next two years and it’s a bigger project than we would normally be doing so it’s good news and hopefully it will benefit the families in Shadsworth.
“We’ll be running a Saturday club every week for families. We are in the third week and we have had some really positive feedback. The families have never had anything like this in the area.”
The club will provide arts and crafts, board games, play dough, bingo, Lego and refreshments.
The cash will also go towards providing short breaks, a day trip and coffee morning for carer’s.
“We will pick the children up and take them out for about three hours which gives parents a break and we are looking to set up a coffee morning for parent carer’s as well,” she said.
Diane set up In Di Go four years ago and already runs a twice fortnightly club in Wensley Fold.
“I have a 19-year-old son who is on the autistic spectrum and has ADHD and is a good example of how things can work if you can get the right service provision. We help people access the right support and move on with their life.
“I want to make a difference. That’s what drives me,” she said. The club runs from 10.30am-12.30pm at the centre on Shadsworth Road, Blackburn .
